Since I upgraded the system, along with moving to a new server, I was able to add the following new features!

Interaction

• Send postcards using the illustrations in the gallery
• Users can add eachother to their buddy list, and invite friends to join the site and become buddies
• Users can send eachother private messages (see My inbox)

Account customization

• Users can select avatars, so uploading a new image is no longer necessary to get rid of the default avatar
• Users can specify their preferred theme that will be used when they're logged in
• Users can create their own personalized homepage where you can select your favorite sections of the site to see what's new (see My ladylovelylocks.org)
• Users can add the pages, forum topics and images they like best to a list of favorites that will show up in their account
• Users can choose to receive periodic mailings to be notified of what's new on the site
• Users can earn points for being active on the site

Posts

• Smilies
• BBCode with WYSIWYG bar
• URLs are automatically turned into links
• File attachments to illustrate posts, for example when you have something sale or trade and want to include a photo. (Don't use this feature if you'd like to contribute something to the galleries though!)
• The chat room wasn't working, so I replaced it with a shout box
