Who knows who is LLL creator?

By Niaroche - Posted on 06 March 2007

Hi there!
I'm wondering if anyone knows who was the person who really has created LLL. I know that Maria Gamiere was teh official illustrator of the dolls, but does she created them? Or the series were a brain storm of several persons?
Any idea?

Wow, I cant believe that we're actually talking to one of the creators... uh... *hides fan-art and dounjinshi's* I hope you dont mind me putting up the episodes on youtube. I really wanted to share the show with everyone now that its rare to come by.

As I've said, LLL has a warm place in my heart. It was an absolute pleasure for me to see her adventures living on at YouTube. So many thanks.

Best,

Jack

I assure you I haven't forgotten my offer to participate on this website. I've just finished taping and editing the pilot episode of a new series I've developed for television. And I've also just released my sixth novel -- Cast On, Bet's Off, a steamy mystery novel for knitters. Excuse my shameless advertising, but unlike my previous novels, it's only available in yarn shops and on my wife, Kim's, webpage -- sitnknit.com. (If any of you LLL fans purchase the book on the website, send me an e-mail via the e-mail link there, let me know you're an LLL fan and I'll personally autograph it for you.)
Btw, I was doing a book signing in a yarn shop in Chicago last week and learned one of the young employees there was an avid LLL fan. Before long she had episodes up and running on YouTube.
In any event, I'm pleased to drop in on your website from time to time. If you'd like, we could set up a thread on the forum so I could field some questions from fans. I do the same on He-man.org, as I created and wrote most of the episodes for The New Adventures of He-man. I recently did an interview on their Masters Cast #25 podcast and that was a lot of fun.
I've had a long -- and continuing -- run in television, with more than 1,000 episodes to my credit. Of course a large part of that is due to loyal fans. So many thanks to all you LLL fans here. The series occupies a warm spot deep within my heart.

Best,

Jack

Puzzled you mean there are more LLL episodes up on youtube? The only ones I've seen are the ones I put up there.

Hi Jack!

Wow, it's great to see you at the site! I hope the pilot and your new novel will be a big success! Laughing out loud

Gosh, I wonder if that would have been Karnella who you met in that yarn shop. She's the only one I know that has posted LLL episodes on YouTube. Eye-wink

I'll get back to you about the forum! Smiling

Thanks, Manon. It's an absolute delight for me to be here. I've always felt the LLL series was a sort of calm oasis in the sea of chaos that is our world. And her gentleness, civility and warm spirit are qualities that make her a fine role model not just for young ladies, but for all people. I also like the fact that she is a confident woman. I admire her self-reliance and can-do spirit.
I'm eager to share my feelings about LLL and to also hear everyone else's comments. You know, Manon, one of the downsides of writing for television is that you don't get the sort of instant feedback that a stage actor gets. So being here, on this web page, is a rare opportunity for me to have and enjoy one-on-one fan interaction. Thanks so much to you and other fans for making that happen, and also for making me feel welcome. To quote Bogart at the final scene of Casablanca, "I've got a feeling this is the start of a beautiful friendship."

Best,

Jack

Smiling Hi Jack: I'm the person who post the question about the creator of the series. So, you write all the stories? That's great! I loved LLL since I first saw the doll on tv. I'm a writer too, but what I really like to do is character designing. That's why I wanted to know who was LLL creator. I work in animation, but in Chile, Southamerica. My master was Alvaro Arce, I'm sure you know him. It will be great to work with you some day in one of your stories. I'll be glad to do it! Best regards!

That's great. Do you have a website where I can look at some of your work?

Niaroche's picture

Hi. Everybody can see my artwork at www.geocities.com/landesfes and in the fanart section of this web. Sorry but I have no animation posted in the web. Smiling

Aww, that's wonderful! It really means a lot to me having you at the site! (What a shame we didn't have internet when LLL was new!) I've always admired LLL's positive attitude, but I could never have said it as well as you have. Smiling To me, LLL is simply irreplaceable in that respect, and I'm really hoping for some kind of revival or at least keeping the memory alive. Laughing out loud

Well, I was sorta keeping this a bit hush-hush until I could actually get a hold of him, but Jack Olesker developed the cartoon while working as a story editor at DIC.

Apparently he also worked on LLL for Mattel, but I'm not sure how that exactly connects to American Greetings (Those Characters From Cleveland).

It so happens that he came by this site a few weeks ago and showed interest in participating (yay!!!), but he was very busy working on a pilot, so I'm currently waiting until he has some time to talk about LLL. Smiling

The American Greetings connection came about as a result of my work for them (TCFC) on The Care Bears.

Best,

Jack

That's great to know, I always wondered about that! I guess it's not so surprising then that The Care Bears was my second biggest obsession after LLL! Eye-wink

Wow. Could you elaborate on the "participation" details? Smiling

Hmm, it might be nice to have profiles (bio etc) for at least Maria and him?

Webmistress's picture

We hadn't gotten to that yet, that's why I was keeping things a bit under wraps. ^^ But I think it couldn't hurt to start thinking about some questions we'd like to ask him! Eye-wink
