Maiden MistyCurls And The Little Seed

Maiden MistyCurls had a little garden on the Enchanted Island. The sun shone warmly upon her head and the earth was rich and fertile. Many magnificent, special plants grew in the wild there and were magnificent to watch. But still Maiden MistyCurls liked to have her own garden, in which she could grow her favorite flowers, fruit and vegetables.

One day Maiden MistyCurls was strolling on the beach together with Maiden GoldenWaves, when she saw something in the sand. She bend forward to pick it up.
"What did you find?" asked Maiden GoldenWaves.
Maiden MistyCurls showed it to her. It was a small, wrinkled, brown seedbox that was washed ashore by the sea. It was cracked open, but there was still something in it. Maiden MistyCurls shook it and a tiny seed rolled into the palm of her hand.
"What do you want with that?" asked Maiden GoldenWaves. "I often see that kind of little things get washed ashore."
"But not anything like this," said Maiden MistyCurls. "It's a seed I've never seen before. I don't think it's from this island. I'm going to plant it and see if it will grow."
Maiden GoldenWaves thought it was a waste of time, but Maiden MistyCurls did not care. She had made up her mind. So she took the little seed to her garden and dug a small hole for it.
"What are you doing?" asked PixieFine.
"I'm planting this little seed I found on the beach," said Maiden MistyCurls. PixieFine looked at the little seed. "You don't think that something will actually grow from it, huh?" she said doubtfully.
"I'll just try it and see what happens," said Maiden MistyCurls. Then she put the little seed into the ground, covered it with earth, poured some water on it, and stuck a white little stick in the ground to mark the place, where she had sowed.

Every day after that Maiden MistyCurls went to look at the little seed. But for a long time nothing happened. Yet she did not give up and finally, one day, she saw a small sprout coming out of the earth.

For weeks she took care of the sprout by protecting it well and spudding out weeds. She made sure it had enough sunlight and not too much shadow. And when the ground was dry, she gave it water. Soon the first leaves already unfolded themselves and the new little plant began to take form.It was a very strange little plant. It had sticky leaves and the stalks were covered with little thorns."Yuck," said PixieFine when she saw it. "Now you probably regret that you planted it, don't you?""Well," said Maiden GoldenWaves. "It's probably some kind of weed. Shall I pull it out for you?"
But Maiden Lily Curls remained steadfast. She was still curious about the unusual little plant. She had never seen anything like it and, though it was a bit ugly, she still wanted to know what it was.

After a few months the little plant had grown into a small bush, that stood a bit lost in the garden, except when someone pricked herself at the thorns! Maiden Lily Curls did not give it as much attention as before, but she kept spudding out the weeds around it and gave it water when it was thirsty. So no one really noticed it when the bush began to form little buds, which grew bigger and bigger over time.
One morning Maiden GoldenWaves came running to fetch Maiden MistyCurls.
"Come see the bush! Come see the bush!" she called.
"What are you talking about?" asked Maiden MistyCurls.
"The bush that grew out of the little seed from the sea!" Maiden GoldenWaves called excitedly.
Together they walked towards the garden and towards the bush...
It had changed so much! All buds had opened and very special, magnificent flowers had emerged, which now covered the entire bush. They were in all colors of the rainbow and they smelled sweeter than honey.
"Oh, they're so beautiful!" said PixieFine.
"They're wonderful!" said Maiden GoldenWaves.

Maiden MistyCurls said nothing, but she was very happy. She was rewarded for her hard work. And later, when the flowers had become seeds again, everyone wanted to plant them. She even send a few to Lady LovelyLocks to plant in her garden.
