In LovelyLocks Land all seemed quiet. Lady LovelyLocks and her friends passed their days with strolls in the woods or visits to the small Princess Licorice and Prince Mezereon, who built their own small castle at the foot of an old oak tree. Sometimes they went to ShiningGlory, who lived not far away with his dog Prince. Prince was actually a boy, Prince StrongHeart. He was enchanted a long time ago, but Lady LovelyLocks and her friends did not know that.
On a beautiful morning Lady LovelyLocks woke up in her room and discovered that she had lost her voice! Maiden FairHair and the Pixietails thought she was ill and put the princess back to bed. Maiden CurlyCrown went to fetch ShiningGlory at a run.
"Let me take a look at you," said ShiningGlory as he entered the room. And he examined Lady LovelyLocks from head to toe to find out what was wrong with her.
"Well, you're not ill," said ShiningGlory after he had carefully examined her. "And I don't think that you've lost your voice."
"Oh no?" moved the lips of Lady LovelyLocks, though there was no sound.
"No," said ShiningGlory. "I think that someone has stolen it. I have the feeling that there is mischievous magic involved!"
So Lady LovelyLocks climbed out of her bed and together with ShiningGlory and her maidens went to look for her voice.
Maiden FairHair strolled in the forest when she heard Prince bark and bark, as if he had chased a rabbit into its hole. She went to look and found him barking at the house of Princess Licorice and Prince Mezereon at the foot of the old oak tree.
"My!" said Maiden FairHair. "Princess Licorice and Prince Mezereon must be so afraid!" And she pulled Prince away from their small castle.
But the small couple was not at home and when Maiden FairHair listened, she heared something very odd. Inside the small castle a voice laughed, and it was the voice of Lady LovelyLocks!
Maiden FairHair ran away to fetch ShiningGlory and the others. But when she returned, the voice had disappeared. Licorice and Mezereon knew of nothing. So they began to search with renewed strength, because whoever was behind this mischievous magic, he could not be far away.
Maiden CurlyCrown walked in the garden, when she saw a fieldmuis scratching around, who was talking to itself. But his talking did not sound like that of a fieldmouse, but like that of Lady LovelyLocks!
"I've found him!" called CurlyCrown to the others. But she had not caught him yet and catching a field mouse is not easy!
The small animal ran under the bushes and through hedges with CurlyCrown after it. Finally she sprang and caught the little beast...
But unfortunately, it did not longer have the voice of Lady LovelyLocks. And when the others arrived, they found Maiden CurlyCrown stretched out on the grass with in her hand a small mouse that only said "peep"!
